Well-built for this price range, shifts smooth, brakes are great. Rode it on moderate trails and bike held up really well. The seat isn't the best but can be easily swapped. I have built bikes in the past, and this was actually easier to put together than bikes of 10-15 years ago. The directions are not great, but you should be able to put it together with a wrench and the tools that are included with the bike.As for as the bike itself, it is a decent entry level frame that is fairly light weight for this class of bike, it has some nice components on it, such as a quick release seat and quick release front and rear tires and v-style brakes, and the shifters are built into the grips, so no levers to get hung up on, and it also comes with a decent entry level shock absorbing front fork and semi-slick tires. The cranks and chain rings and rear cassette are of low end quality, BUT it will work and last for a number of years, and really ,if that kind of component is something you are worried about, then don't buy an entry level bike.
